Microphone Check All songs on Upward Spiral were written, composed, performed, and arranged by Pete Kelso. Bonnie Hayes co-arranged some songs and compositions. Tony Stead on Hammond B3 Organ, Will Hughes on drums, Mark Rosenthal on percussion, J.R. Johnstone on bass, April Cope back-up vocals, Barry Sless on pedal steel guitar, Michael Golds on Vibes, Terry Carleton on drums for Intifada d’ amore, and Jay on talk-box for Resume for Rock and Roll. Upward Spiral was engineered by Pepe Merel with Matt Kelley as engineer for much tracking and mixing as well as mix downs by David Bell and Nino Moschella from Bell Boy Studios. Other engineering was provided by Andrew Wilhausen, Charlie Beutter, and David Greenberg. Production tips and advice were given by David Ogilvy, Bob Bralove, and Tony Eckhert.
Recording was done at Hyde Street Studios, Matt’s Studio, Skywalker Ranch, and Bell Boy Studios. Thanks to the management and staff at Hyde Street Studios Jeff Cleland, Butch, Patrick Gorden and Pepe’s crew at Skywalker Ranch.
